Snowmass Village doesn't close for the season on a single date. On Snowmass Tourism's Fall 2026 seasonal closures list, closing dates run from Sept. 7 to Nov. 2, and reopenings run from Nov. 9 to Dec. 10. For restaurants, those dates put the true quiet stretch in the first half of November. It starts on Nov. 1 and begins to ease when Rock Island and JUS return in mid-November, ahead of the dated reopenings that start Nov. 20. October still has plenty open.
The list is the best map of the off-season we have. Below, it's laid out in order, along with the road work and free events that fall in the same weeks.
Where the calendar stands this weekend
This is the turnover weekend. The Snowmass Bike Park runs its last lift-served day on Oct. 4. Fall Fest at Elk Camp runs the same afternoon, noon to 4:30 p.m., with live music and family activities. Its event listing calls this the last weekend of summer operations. Pine Creek Cookhouse also closes Oct. 4 and won't reopen until Dec. 10.
Heather's has its last night at Viewline on Monday, Oct. 5. Its "Snowmass Send-Off" weekend began Friday, Oct. 2, with 35% off bottles of wine and 20% off food. The restaurant is staying in town and reopens at the Stonebridge Inn on Dec. 10, 2026.
Several Mall and Base Village restaurants were already closed before this weekend. The Edge at Timberline closed Sept. 26. New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot and Crepe Therapy Cafe closed Sept. 27, and Slope & Hatch at The Collective closed Sept. 28. JUS Snowmass and GG's Market followed on Sept. 29, Fuel Cafe on Sept. 30 and Grub Thai on Oct. 1. Aurum Food & Wine, Montevino and Venga Venga closed Oct. 3.
October still has options
Plenty is still open after this weekend. Several familiar spots stay open well into the month:
| Business | Location | Last day before break | Back open |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kenichi Snowmass | Base Village | Oct. 10 | Nov. 20 |
| Four Mountain Sports, Mall Shop and Pavilion | Snowmass Mall | Oct. 11 | Nov. 25 |
| Snowmass Trading Company | Snowmass Mall | Oct. 13 | Nov. 23 |
| The Lounge at Limelight | Base Village | Oct. 18 | Nov. 25 |
| Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill | Snowmass Mall | Oct. 19 | Mid-November |
| Gorsuch Ski Cafe | Snowmass Mall | Oct. 24 | Nov. 21 |
| Après Deck | Snowmass Mall | Oct. 25 | Nov. 23 |
| Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro at the Viceroy | Base Village | Nov. 1 | Nov. 23 |
Snowmass Tourism lists the Après Deck as the former Stark's Alpine Grill at Viewline. The Viceroy's three outlets have the latest restaurant closing date on the list, and their break is the shortest one posted for any restaurant, Nov. 1 to Nov. 23.
The same list adds a caveat that matters all month. Snowmass Tourism notes that off-season businesses often close on Mondays and Tuesdays, and hours can change as reopening dates get closer. Call ahead or check online before you go.
The places that never close
Some businesses stay open through every phase of the fall:
- The Tavern, on the Mall, is listed as open through the fall season. Its website lists a daily happy hour, $1 wings all day on Wednesdays and trivia on Tuesdays.
- Zane's Tavern, also open through the fall, calls itself a local's bar and lists its address as 10 Village Square.
- The Daly Diner is open all season. Its posted hours are breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the site notes that off-season hours may vary.
- Taster's is open all season and closes only on Thanksgiving Day.
- Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food, Challenge Aspen and Guapodog stay open on the Mall. Christy Sports stays open on reduced hours.
- At Snowmass Center, Clark's Groceries, Ajax Supply, The Snowmass Dispensary and Sundance Liquor & Gifts are all listed as open all season.
In Base Village, TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East is listed as open all season, and Eye Pieces of Snowmass stays open but may cut its hours.
With these businesses open, the quiet weeks are still livable. Groceries, a hardware store, a diner, two taverns and a fine food shop all stay open, so ordinary errands still get done in the village.
The first half of November
Once the Viceroy outlets close on Nov. 1, every Mall and Base Village restaurant with a posted closing date is on break. Only The Tavern and Zane's are listed as open through the fall. A few entries on the Mall list have no dates at all, including Il Poggio, Snacfood and Snowmass Lanes, so check with them directly. Rock Island and JUS are the first restaurants listed to come back, both in "mid-November," with no exact day posted.
A few things are scheduled during these weeks. Alux Spalon in Base Village takes the shortest break on the list, closing Nov. 2 and reopening Nov. 9. Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts photographer James Casebere for a free public lecture on Nov. 3, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in person or by livestream.
Anderson Ranch fills in the weekday afternoons
Through the off-season, the Ranch's calendar is the most reliable source of free things to do in Snowmass Village. These events are on the Ranch's calendar:
- Oct. 8, 4 to 5 p.m.: Fall Artists-in-Residence Slide Night, free, in person or virtual.
- Oct. 8, 5 to 6 p.m.: Gallery reception for Benjamin Timpson's exhibition "The Weight of Light," which runs through Oct. 30.
- Oct. 13, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Free visiting-artist lecture by Serban Ionescu, with registration for in-person or livestream.
- Oct. 28, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Free public lecture by visiting critic Damien Davis.
- Oct. 30, 3 to 5 p.m.: Spooktacular Creepy Crafts, a free family Halloween event with studio trick-or-treating, crafts and a costume contest.
- Nov. 3, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Free lecture by James Casebere.
From October through May, the Ranch store and Patton-Malott Gallery are open weekdays from 1 to 5 p.m., except major holidays. The Ranch Café's public lunch service runs only June through September, so plan to eat somewhere else. The Ranch's Día de los Muertos craft event on Oct. 24 takes place at Pitkin County Library in Aspen, not on the Snowmass campus.
The road work follows the same calendar
The Town's roundabout project at Brush Creek Road and Owl Creek Road is timed around the off-season too. Phase 4 began Sept. 16. It closed the Brush Creek-to-Owl Creek connection in both directions and closed Owl Creek Road to through traffic between Brush Creek Road and Chapel Curve until about Oct. 19. Highline Road is the detour, and emergency vehicles can still get through. Both lanes of Brush Creek Road next to the work zone have shifted west. The Town says the roundabout is on schedule for completion on Nov. 15.
The target date puts the finished roundabout in place five days before the first restaurant reopenings with exact dates, on Nov. 20, and 11 days before lifts start turning.
The Town also has public meetings during these weeks. Residents can review the design for the Draw Site workforce housing project at the Town Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 5, or at a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6, which includes a presentation and a feedback session. The Town calendar also lists a Council work session on Oct. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
On the trails, the most recent wildlife closure schedule the Town has posted is for the 2025-26 season. That schedule closed Rim Trail North, Seven Star, Upper North Mesa Equestrian and Viewline/Deadline from Dec. 1 to May 15. The Town hasn't posted 2026-27 dates yet, so check for a new notice before planning a late-November hike.
How the village comes back
Reopenings come in waves, and the order matters if you're planning a first dinner out:
- Mid-November, no exact day posted: Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill and JUS Snowmass
- Nov. 20: Grub Thai, Kenichi Snowmass and Smash & Dash Burger
- Nov. 21: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
- Nov. 23: Après Deck, the Viceroy's Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro, plus One Vibe, Snowmass Trading Company and Snowmass T-Shirt Co
- Nov. 25: The Lounge at Limelight and the Four Mountain Sports Mall Shop and Pavilion
- Nov. 26: New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot, Aurum, Base Camp Bar and Grille, Crepe Therapy Cafe and Four Mountain Sports in Base Village
- Nov. 27: Venga Venga and Sunglass Panache
Nov. 26 is also opening day for Snowmass Mountain, according to Aspen Snowmass. It's the same day The Collective's Game Lounge and Selfie Den reopen after a break that began Sept. 28.
Several returns come after opening day. The Edge at Timberline reopens Dec. 1 and Ro + Fern on Dec. 7. Pine Creek Cookhouse and Heather's both reopen Dec. 10. Snowmass Tourism's winter release says the 93-room Stonebridge Inn reopens in December after a $15.7 million renovation. The release also says Timberline Condominiums has finished the last phase of a $25 million multi-year renovation for this season, and that Ullrhof returns as Aspen Snowmass's first fully electric restaurant, with seating for more than 600. The same release says The Collective will add Collective Conversations, lunch-and-learn workshops, new wellness sessions and Sunday Social Club offerings this winter, and lists Wintersköl for Dec. 10 to 13.
Heather's reopening at the renovated Stonebridge Inn falls on Dec. 10, the same day as Pine Creek Cookhouse and the first day of Wintersköl. That makes Dec. 10 the last major reopening date on this fall's calendar.
If you're using these quiet weeks to think about what your Snowmass Village home is worth before winter starts, Monica Viall can walk you through it. She has spent more than 20 years watching how the valley's seasons affect property values. Schedule a consultation for a time in November, before the reopenings start.
